Please read the submission requirements carefully. Submissions outside the listed parameters will not be considered.

 
Eligibility and Guidelines:
 
· Artist must be a member of the Utah Surface Design Group or invited by the Group to participate.
 
· Artwork should adhere to the mission statement of the USDG: encompassing the coloring, patterning, and structuring of fiber and fabric.  This involves creative exploration of processes such as dying, painting, printing, stitching, embellishing, quilting, weaving, knitting, felting, and papermaking.
 
· Works may be mixed media, incorporating materials beyond traditional fabrics (i.e. metal, wood, plastics, found objects, etc.)
 
· Work must be original (not executed in the classroom, under educational guidance or supervision) and not previously been exhibited at the Brigham City Museums.
 
· Collaborative work (two or more artists) may be entered.
 
· Submissions must include an artist statement of 150 words maximum for each work, describing its inspiration – how that particular work fits the artist’s interpretation of the show’s concept.
 
· The work may be for sale. The Brigham City Museum of Art & History retains a 20% commission of all sales of artwork produced during the competition. The Brigham City Museum of Art & History will handle sales.
 
· Artists will receive the full incoming loan agreement upon acceptance to the exhibit.
 
 
Artwork Requirements:
 
Artwork must be in one of the following two categories:
 
1. 2D works shall range from 10-60” in width and not exceed 72” in height.
 
2. 3D Works shall not exceed a maximum 72” H x 24” W x 24” D and must fit through a standard 34” doorway.
 
· All wall pieces must have either:
    -a 4” finished hanging sleeve sewn only the back of the work 0.5” down from the top edge, indented at least 1.0” from each edge of the work, with adequate space for a 0.25” deep hanging rod
    -be mounted on gallery wrapped canvas or frame with a hanging wire securely attached.  The hanging apparatus must not show when the piece is hung.
 
· 3D pieces should include any special display instructions.
 
· If art cannot be rolled, artist may incur additional costs for transportation. 
 
· All work must include a label with the title of the work, the artist’s name and contact information.
 
· After artists have been notified of acceptance, follow-up communications will be sent with shipping/drop off instructions and hanging requirements.
 
· There is no restriction on when the piece was created.
 
· If an artwork has been shown in any Brigham City or USDG event prior to this call it is ineligible.
 
Digital Images:
 
· 2D – Submit one overall DIGITAL image showing all edges of design and one detail DIGITAL image for each piece of artwork.
· 3D – Submit one overall front, one overall rear or side view and one detail image.
 
HOW TO SUBMIT DIGITAL IMAGES:
 
Images should be in focus, properly exposed, and evenly lit.  No part of flat artwork should be in shadow.  The artwork should be the only item visible in the image. 
 
· Save your digital images as a high-quality JPEG file (No TIFF files).
 
· Finished image should be at least 1800 pixels on the longest side.
 
· Full-view and detail images should both be correctly oriented.
 
· The artist’s name must not be visible in either image.
 
· Label each digital image with first 1-3 words of the artwork title, no spaces and no punctuation and indicate if detail or full. Examples: GolddustFull.jpg or GolddustDetail.jpg

Fee: $35 entry fee for up to three entries. Members must pay their fees by going to this link. Fee must be paid prior to entry deadline listed above and is not refundable.  For issues with payment, please contact Alana Blumenthal at alana@boxeldermuseum.org.

 

Insurance: The gallery provides insurance for the artwork while it is in their possession. The artist will be responsible for insuring the work during delivery to and from the gallery.

 

Delivery: Detailed shipping and drop-off instructions will be provided after acceptances are emailed.  Two-way shipping charges are the responsibility of the artist.

 

Registration will open on March 18, 2024. Registration will close at midnight MST on April 19, 2024.
